Posted by: Mr. M Kumar N At: 8, Jan 2004 8:43:52 PM IST Talking of non-playing staff - Did anyone see Shivlal Yadav in the Indian balcony?
What on earth was he doing with the Indian team? I think this is where we need some quality support staff, where people can genuinely be of help to the young team and offer guidance.
We still don't seem to have shaken off the "jumping on the band wagon" mentality!!
Posted by: Mr. Gowrishankar Garigiparthy At: 6, Jan 2004 2:24:19 PM IST I think the declaration was great! That way, Ganguly threw down the gauntlet to the Aussies and thereby kept the game alive, rather than batting till this morning simply to save the match and make it a tame draw.
Credit should also be given to the Aussies for taking up the challenge and trying to have a go at reaching the target. This made the game exciting and both teams can feel fenuinely satisfied that they have played a great game!
Posted by: Mr. Gowrishankar Garigiparthy At: 6, Jan 2004 2:21:52 PM IST Cricket is a game of teamwork(some spirit also). In this team there are Playing staff and Non-Playing ( Betting) staff. Unfortunately we have more Non- playing staff(to cover global network).
Agar bet na-hotha kisi khel mein majha kyahein?

Posted by: Naren At: 5, Jan 2004 9:53:21 PM IST “(VVS) Laxman’s ‘wagon wheel’ resembled the Ashok Chakra in the middle of India’s flag, with as many spokes as there were places on the field,”
This quote says it all
not to forget the "silent killer" kumble
overall it was a "Team effort"
good luck india
Posted by: Mr. shyam shooter At: 5, Jan 2004 9:21:41 PM IST I don't think there are any single Heroes in this match - it is a genuine TEAM Effort.
You cannot dismiss the great start given by both Chopra and Sehwag, which helped the others build a good total. Similarly, one cannot dismiss the support from Prathiv Patel - especially when you look at the debacle of the tail enders in the last match.
At the other end, you cannot overlook the bowling of Irfan Pathan - who seems to be a perfect partner for yound Zaheer Khan, Nehra and Agarkar.
But all in all - this is good leadership from Ganguly, who has kept the team together and has controlled his aggression against a very good team.
Ganguly believes that his team can take on the Aussies and BEAT them in their own ground - he has motivated the team accordingly and the team have responded to that!
India have proved that by working as a team, they can be the best, rather on relying on one or two HEROES!
