| Diploma in any baranch of engineering with a course duration about three years can gain 85 credits or even more than that; To complete any major subject for graduation iin engineering you may need 114 credits; That does not mean the balance 29 credits you can complete within span of six months.
It takes min 2 years to get the remaining credits to complete any major like CIVIL; And increases by another 6-8 months if you have a minor say " MECHANICAL together.
More or less it's the same like in INDIA.

US creduit system, is much easier than any other pan brojker calculatuions;
The no of credits for each year is calculated on the maximum no of years that were spend for each subject by considering the max marks awarded at a preset value of it's minumum multiplied by 2 times for first year and by 4 second year and by eight in third year and by 10 in fourth year.
