All the time we have good laws but only thing enforcement is required. Politicians are capable of breaking these laws no doubt. Just out of curiosity by whom and when this bandhs were staaged? Is it by Late Mr. MK Gandhi?

Oh my goodness!! India is really developing.... I should start thinking of going back to my motherland. I am sure, if not tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, everything other state and the center will follow the Maharashtra's decision. Bharat Mata ki JAI!

I very much support. Bandhs are great disturbance to the public no matter what the reason is. The Bombay high court on Friday fined the Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party Rs 20 lakh each for calling a bandh in Mumbai on July 30, 2003 in the wake of a series of blasts. Also it is a good decision that the money collected as fine would go into a fund and will be used to improve public amenities.

Maharashtra Govt. planned a stern action against Bandhs under Section 149 Cr.PC. 1) Any party, organisation, group or individual calling for bandh will be served a notice under Section 149 Cr.PC, which will state the illegality of bandh. 2) The person or organisation calling for bandh will be liable for legal action for any loss of life, injury or property damage. 3) To make people feel secure, a public notice be issued by the govt. informing about the preparations made by the police to deal with any untoward situation. 4) Under various sections of Cr.PC and Bombay Police Act, preventive action will be taken against group or individual. In order to identify the miscreants who indulge in unlawful activities, govt. deploys wireless patrolling and beat marshalls and use video cameras.
