As definition wise SAP stands - Systems Applications and Products in Data processing. Its an ERP which has various modules like HR (human resources - to mantain employees(salary,time..) of the company), FI (for financial purposes - ledgers,..), SD (sales and distributions aspects of the company..) .....

It's an ERP package which consists of various modules like SD,MM,PP,HR,FI,AM and so on.... Which are used in various industries.
SAP helps to run the business in a easier way via increase in production and reduction in cost.
