| haha its funny how I too do such experiments with audio/videos!
I have an ATI video Card which has a TV-out port which I hooked up to one of the av inputs on the tv! For the audio I had to run another wire from the pc's soundcard to my home-theater system but only stereo I guess! I was successful in making this work, only that the clarity on the TV sux, coz I guess the resolution differs!
As if this is not enough, I had bought a wireless keyboard/mouse so I can sit on my couch and operate pc and watch it on TV only that the pc and tv had to be in proximity, overall it was a cool experiment!

My nero also has a DVD writer capability, but it cannot, theres no dvd writer on my comp, there was a sale last week at Fry's for $39 that I missed! Is there anyway to make a CD Writer write DVDs? ;-)
Posted by: చంటోడు At: 12, Oct 2004 0:34:07 AM IST Hi, I got a problem with my CD writer, can any body having idea, please tell me.
The problem is it is working fine for the CDs burning (when recording the new CDs) but sometimes it is not able to read the CDs which are readable only.
Posted by: Anusha Devi At: 30, Sep 2004 7:02:45 PM IST I tried rmconverter ( from boilsoft ), though it successfully converted the rm to svcd ( mpeg ), the playback is horrible on the DVD player - the video is all broken and is like a slow-motion (not that motion!) and the audio hardly matches with the audio, feels like a tamil dubbing!
Actually nero did not accept the format and it had to re-encode complaining that it does not adhere to certain standards, yada yada!
Is it better just to convert to avi and burn (hoping that nero will not crib)?
Posted by: చంటోడు At: 28, Sep 2004 1:31:56 AM IST I meant mpeg video and mpeg media, size is different too!
What is the dvd format(extension)? does it have separate audio/video tracks (files)?
Posted by: చంటోడు At: 22, Sep 2004 1:12:54 AM IST thx blues for the s/n! I guess I can count on ya for a bunch of 'em later on! :P
which is better? rm to avi or rm to vcd ?
I mean ultimately I would want to play it on the DVD player.
Another thing, what is 'mpeg media' and 'mpeg video' types of files?
Posted by: చంటోడు At: 22, Sep 2004 0:34:50 AM IST Thanks UK, I will check it out and see!
BlueS - I have Nero (came with my CD Writer) and can burn VCDs. I see a check box for DVD too but its greyed out probably becoz it knows the writer isnt DVD writer!
So is rmconverter only a trial version? hmmm, need some free stuff :P you know becoz these trial versions have some limitations, like it can convert only 1 min of video or so! Again I might shell out some greens if I really like the s/w!
Also, while converting which is better - fixed frame, proportional or cropping?
Difference b/w VCD and SVCD?
Thx!
