General Forum: Society | True meaning of an Engineer n Engineering | |
| Some Engineering collages have sufficient facilities and facality to give a correct direction to the engineering students simple theoritical knowledge is no use it should be coupled with the practical approach then only our knowledge strengthens, An engineer has to play key role to meet the day to day needs of the society.

Construction that involves manazing the resources :
1. Natural Resources
2. Manmade ( Artificial ) resources
The later involves plant, equipment, machine and manpower.
This process is endless as they develop different new techniques as well as new resources for the soceity.

//So, I think in those days there wasn't more of a practical training//
I disagree
I have passed engineering in1971 but we had lot of practicals. I have started and ran rustin engine, stopped it by applying brake( putting more load than it can take, blacksmithy, wiring, carpentry, foundry practice, operating lathe machines and drilling machines including machining jobs on them and a lot like that including surveying and hydraulic lab experiments. Of course some students get them done by paying money.

We were taught the same stale stuff which was approved for Engineering study by AICTE in the year 1983( haa that was the year i was born)
So, I think in those days there wasn't more of a practical training..everything was more of theory. But the same thing is being continued even now. So, I think colleges should focus more on the practical training rather than an in-class theoritical discussions..which are more often full of individual illusions(like one sleeps, one plays, one dreams abou girl friends, movies etcc)
