The American Press and other coutries hailed the decision of Government of India positively. We r in a position to deal the crisis effectively, and in a position to help other countries also.

I don't think the world's fastest growing economy with biggest work forces in every department say it railways, army and navy, should accept any kind of international help.come on guys we can handle this tragedy. It is a morale booster not to accept any international aid.1500 hundred american marines are coming to srilanka.!!!!!i guess what are they goin to do there?take people into hostage and torture them and snap some pics of it or what?this is an unnecessary gesture of sending marines to the subcontinent.

What sort of help is required will be decided by the victims. Moreover the people on the coast keep going. They never stay permanently at one place. What they lost what is to be compensated is important. Our President Dr. Abdul Kalam asked the nation to hypothicate / adopt the villages affected by the calamity. One organization replied they gave 25 lak rs to do so. Currency IRS 25 laks 2.5 million rupees 0.5 million US $ I don't think even we can construct a street / road of 7.2 m wide of 100 m long.

Hi Whats the aid we are talking abt.....its not indiviudla aid by foreigner's we are denying.....its the institutional aid either by govts or institutions....did we refuse red cross support..... institutional aid disaster or no disaster comes with raiders......political obligation is like that "kaikayee 3 varamulu" in ramayan....you cant expect what they ask back at what cost.... second if 1 billion cannot rescue the 1 lakh........what is the rubbish about foreign aids....dont anyone here think that 1 billion are capable of aiding 1 lakh or they are convinced of indians not helping indians....and if it is so whats this " crooks" in govt?????????????? "indian crooks" might be better word......i would be more concerned with State Bank refusing to accept donations by rickshaw workers beause they would have to count coin's or change.....

Mr. Madhu, There was news yesterday that India denied Australian aid. Death toll in India is not 65,000 but the overall figure is that. By today morning, it was 80,000. All kinds of support and aid is being offered from almost all corners of the world. Ofcourse Pranab Mukherjee clarified that it is not so and govt. accepts provided the need arises. http://in.rediff.com/news/2004/dec/30an.htm

Smart Decision. We should fight our own battles versus depending on foreign countries. Silicon Andhra is actively collecting funds from NRI's. Don't worry, We will make it without foreign aid.

1. India refused which inter. orgz ??? 2. Death toll in India 65000 ?????? 3. What aid others offered ??? It's good decision by Manmohan singh and his team and Leaders of State Govt. The foreigners will become overheads for Indian Govt nad you have to pay more in return. Better our people restore the situation and our people get those benifits.

Maybe India got wealth enough to restore the conditions. Or it may be considering accepting foriegn aid, as a blow to Indian self-esteem...It has both good & bad side for it !!
