General Forum: Current 'Affairs' | MIG-21 mishaps: Should the government phase out the aircraft? | |
| 1.They could have been trained on a simulator.
2. The cost encurred (including all the losses)so far they could have been trained else where rather than in India. This could have been more cheaper.
3. What about trainer whom supposed to be along with the pilot.
4. All the cases the pilot safe and he left the aircraft safely. May be without any attempt.
5. There could be a scam in procurement. You cant buy another MIG without loosing one.
God only help us if they have to fly F-16. They may land in the neighbouring countries. At least this can prevent some infiltrators.

The MiG 21 aircraft, involved in the mishap, was of Type 75, which is on the verge of being phased out. It along with MiG 21 BIS version has been the most prone to accidents.
According to figures tabled in Parliament, 63 MIG 21 aircraft have crashed in the last 10 years with 16 crashes taking place in 2000.
