I don't believe in the title of the thread itself. India going past the US by 2020, uff it has to be one of the wildest possible dreams. I think it's better we stop woolgathering/stargazing and work towards acheiving something pragmatic.

china excells in manufacturing sector ,where as india excells in the information technology sector .AS somew one pointed out ,the russians are going to make it big ,in the years to come . Indians have a better advantage in terms of manpower ,utilisation of resources ,but these are weighed down by banks ,and politics

India is way behind china on may fronts. The only advantage india has is the english speaking population. The net FDI inflows into china is ten times more than that of india. I would be not surprised to see Russia playing a huge role in the coming future. Once Putin completes the reforms process Russia will be a more attractive country for the rest of the world. Kellogs started its operations in india long back. It was not successful. The company thought it could change the eating habits of indians. Indians dint give up idli and dosa.

Developed countries prefered China though it's a communist country. US decided not to give any subsidy for cotton and shrimps industry. It so happened Kellog or it's subsidaries are not interested in the Indian market. World NO:1 oil producer ARAMCO enetring Indian market. This may leave very less margin for Indian petrlolieum industry. Future market will be shared by both China & India in Asia.
