| I don't think any child got a time to watch TV under our present state educational institutions.
They are no more schools but they are just coaching / tution centers.
Children are kept waiting in the schools in the name of study hours. They are loosing precious hours of education other than schools.
No school should work or conduct classes for more than six hours. Human rights should react in this regard.
It is rediculous keeping children for 12 hours in a school.

Veella 'asalu baadha' adi!!!!! TO cover it up, they also talked about Domestic Violence, Bigamy etc etc ...
I bet, none of these people would come forward, if those stupid female characters are replaced with their male counterparts :))
The logic is simple .. NO TV CHANNEL WILL TELECAST ANY SERIAL UNLESS THEY MAKE PROFITS ON THAT...and the profits are due to viewership .. let the Viewers boycott Ekta Kapoor for a few weeks, I'm sure the quality of the serials would go up! But the question is 'Would they?'

VISAKHAPATNAM, MARCH 6. The need to launch a movement against unsavoury serials on television channels, particularly those depicting women in bad light, was emphasised at the open forum, jointly organised by the Chennai-based Pappus Academic and Cultural Trust (PACT) and Soundarya Lahari here on Sunday.
The forum's theme was: `Should the TV serials/soaps be banned which show excess of domestic violence?'
Restraint urged
A score of speakers, including some from the audience were unanimous in demanding the censoring and certification of TV serials, which could damage the psyche of the viewers, particularly the youth.
Every speaker condemned the negative characterisation of women, excessive display of domestic violence, acceptance of multiple marriages and extra-marital relationship, etc., in those serials, and felt that the time had come to exercise control over this rank commercialism. They wanted the print and the electronic media to show some restraint in this regard, lest the Indian cultural ethos would take a severe beating.
Suitable action
The project director of PACT and Redefining the Concept of Marriage in Indian Society (RCMIS), Jaya Venugopal, who delivered the keynote address, wondered whether the TV serials were showing "how we Indians are living or directing us how we have to live''.
She said that the proceedings of the forum, including the views aired by every speaker, would be forwarded to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry for suitable action.
The city advocate, Kandala Srinivasa Rao, quoted the provisions of the Cinematograph Act to pinpoint that it was possible to tackle the menace through public interest litigation.
A functionary of Soundarya Lahari, Valli Ramgopal, announced that her organisation would take the initiative in moulding the public opinion on this issue.
The Visakha Music and Dance Academy president, C.S.N. Raju, was the chief guest. The participants included the retired professor of Andhra University, K. Malayavasini, the founder secretary-general of Lebenshilfe, T. Saraswathi Devi, the Sri Satya Sai Vidya Vihar principal, A. Kaushalya, Y. Vijayalakshmi, T. Padma Rao and Y. Lakshmi Narayana Murthy. Dusi Dharma Rao compered the programme.
The managing trustee of Soundarya Lahari, Rama Devi, welcomed the gathering. The forum's convener, G.R.K. Prasad, proposed a vote of thanks.
....
This is the News Item in The Hindu. Now I request all of U here please give your valuable opinions.
I suppose these serials are doing lot of damage to the youth, as elders are preventing them to watch other channels like National Geographic, History Channel and BBC.Family politics is the theme of these serials has been trying to hijack the enlightenment in the family environment.
