Vedic Mathematics refers to the concept of learning Mathematics in the Vedic way. Scholars like Varahamihira supposedly used them extensively in proposing the Helio Centric theory (reportedly before Copernicus did) and releated stuff and the principle equivalent to the Pythagoras theorem, according to some study.
Prof C. Musili from Hyderabad Central University( He is a Christian, not a Hindu) wrote a book on the esence of Vedic Mathematics too.
One person who happened to be the in-charge of NIMS Hospital's IT centre ( Dont remember the name) did a lot of research on Vedic Computing/Math too. I happened to attend a workshop conducted by IEEE at which he was a speaker some time in 1995.
