Other prerequisites :
1) Time sense, viz. jumping to the opposite camp at the appropriate time
2) Be in the news somehow or other, so that people should not forget you
3) Whenever you are depressed or you are not given an opportunity to 'serve' people as a minister or chairman of a corporation, raise topics like 'My region is being looted', 'Justice is not being to done to my caste' etc. This is one of the techniques of 'betraying' the people. By the time one generation understands this betrayal, the next generation is ready to be cheated!

Lies and Politician are inseparable; they both are wed for life.
U need not have any educational qalifications, the less the better.
Any one can enter the fray irrespective of caste, religion, and creed.
U need not be a technical guy to know, what rigging is all about.
U need to spend some money at the time of elections, make sure u win, so u can get back by other sources.
Somehow you have to hog the limelight once a way.
U should say u r ready to sacrifice ur life for the country.
U change the above sentence once a way, by saying u will give ur last drop of your blood to the people, you can afford as u have security cover.
If u r moral conscious, u should say that u would take only 1 rupee of your salary and rest is for donation.
Recommendations, Jobs, Seats in Colleges, Influence comes automatically.
Given a chance, who does not want to be a politician?
