Remember me on this computer
Hi Friends, 'The Alchemist' is one good book that I recommend everyone to read. It is fabulous. No words to describe. I just completed reading it and saved the jewels from it. I thank Sowmya for sending the document to me. If anyone of you want to read, send mail to me: prasanthi.uppalapati@gmail.com. I do not want to explain what it is all about because you will miss the thrill of exploring it. ---------------------------------------- all things are the manifestation of one thing only. All things are one You must always know what it is that you want When you want something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it when you really want something, the universe always conspires in your favor there was a language in the world that everyone understood. It was the language of enthusiasm, of things accomplished with love and purpose, and as part of a search for something believed in and desired. making a decision was only the beginning of things. When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision. whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it's because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It's your mission on earth When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream When you want something with all your heart, that's when you are closest to the Soul of the World. It's always a positive force people need not fear the unknown if they are capable of achieving what they need and want. We have to take advantage when luck is on our side, and do as much to help it as it's doing to help us. It's called the principle of favorability. Or beginner's luck life really is generous to those who pursue their destiny there were certain things one shouldn't ask about, so as not to flee from one's own destiny The closer one gets to realizing his destiny, the more that destiny becomes his true reason for being, no project is completed until its objective has been achieved People see the world in terms of what they would like to see happen, not what actually does intuition is really a sudden immersion of the soul into the universal current of life, where the histories of all people are connected, and we are able to know everything, because it's all written there. Courage is the quality most essential to understanding the Language of the World All of us know that whoever believes in dreams also knows how to interpret them luck and coincidence. It's with those words that the universal language is written. Everything in life is an omen. We have to respond to omens. It's called the principle of favorability, beginner's luck. Because life wants you to achieve your destiny. Never stop dreaming, follow the omens. every blessing ignored becomes a curse beauty is the great seducer of men love would never keep a man from his destiny. No matter what he does, every person on earth plays a central role in the history of the world. And normally he doesn't know it God only rarely reveals the future. When he does so, it is for only one reason: it's a future that was written so as to be altered. if you improve on the present, what comes later will also be better. Forget about the future, and live each day according to the teachings, confident that God loves his children. Each day, in itself, brings with it an eternity 'Everything that happens once can never happen again. But everything that happens twice will surely happen a third time.' - An Arab Proverb ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "But this payment goes well beyond my generosity," the monk responded. "Don't say that again. Life might be listening, and give you less the next time." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- God's will be done the hand had a reason for all of this, and that only the hand could perform miracles, or transform the sea into a desert… or a man into the wind "Because it's not love to be static like the desert, nor is it love to roam the world like the wind. And it's not love to see everything from a distance, like you do. Love is the force that transforms and improves the Soul of the World. When I first reached through to it, I thought the Soul of the World was perfect. But later, I could see that it was like other aspects of creation, and had its own passions and wars. It is we who nourish the Soul of the World, and the world we live in will be either better or worse, depending on whether we become better or worse. And that's where the power of love comes in. Because when we love, we always strive to become better than we are." when we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, "This is why alchemy exists," the boy said. "So that everyone will search for his treasure, find it, and then want to be better than he was in his former life. Lead will play its role until the world has no further need for lead; and then lead will have to turn itself into gold. It's true that everything has its destiny, but one day that destiny will be realized. So each thing has to transform itself into something better, and to acquire a new destiny, until, someday, the Soul of the World becomes one thing only." When you are loved, you can do anything in creation. When you are loved, there's no need at all to understand what's happening, because everything happens within you, and even men can turn themselves into the wind the world is only the visible aspect of God. And that what alchemy does is to bring spiritual perfection into contact with the material plane Death doesn't change anything -------------------------------------------------------------------- "If a person is living out his destiny, he knows everything he needs to know. There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure." "I'm not afraid of failing. It's just that I don't know how to turn myself into the wind." "Well, you'll have to learn; your life depends on it." "But what if I can't?" "Then you'll die in the midst of trying to realize your destiny. That's a lot better than dying like millions of other people, who never even knew what their destinies were. "But don't worry," the alchemist continued. "Usually the threat of death makes people a lot more aware of their lives." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sea has lived on in this shell, because that's its destiny. And it will never cease doing so until the desert is once again covered by water anyone who interferes with the destiny of another thing never will discover his own when something evolves, everything around that thing evolves as well. alchemy is about penetrating to the Soul of the World, and discovering the treasure that has been reserved for you Your eyes show the strength of your soul When you possess great treasures within you, and try to tell others of them, seldom are you believed. Discovering one's destiny. Destiny is what one always wants to accomplish. Everyone, when they are young, knows what their destiny is. At that point in their lives, everything is clear and everything is possible. They are not afraid to dream, and to yearn for everything they would like to see happen to them in their lives. But, as time passes, a mysterious force begins to convince them that it will be impossible for them to realize their destiny. It's a force that appears to be negative, but actually shows you how to realize your destiny. It prepares your spirit and your will, because there is one great truth on this planet: whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it's because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It's your mission on earth the darkest hour of the night came just before the dawn. before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we've learned as we've moved toward that dream. That's the point at which most people give up. It's the point at which, as we say in the language of the desert, one 'dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.' "Every search begins with beginner's luck. And every search ends with the victor's being severely tested." the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second's encounter with God and with eternity You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it's better to listen to what it has to say. That way, you'll never have to fear an unanticipated blow If you know your heart well, it will never be able to do that to you. wherever your heart is, that is where you'll find your treasure. Listen to your heart. It knows all things, because it came from the Soul of the World, and it will one day return there. all you have to do is contemplate a simple grain of sand, and you will see in it all the marvels of creation. There is only one way to learn, it's through action. You must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his destiny. If he abandons that pursuit, it's because it wasn't true love… the love that speaks the Language of the World wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure. You've got to find the treasure, so that everything you have learned along the way can make sense It's not what enters men's mouths that's evil, it's what comes out of their mouths that is any given thing on the face of the earth could reveal the history of all things. One could open a book to any page, or look at a person's hand; one could turn a card, or watch the flight of the birds… whatever the thing observed, one could find a connection with his experience of the moment. Actually, it wasn't that those things, in themselves, revealed anything at all; it was just that people, looking at what was occurring around them, could find a means of penetration to the Soul of the World. Always heed the omens When you are in love, things make even more sense one must fall in love and really know a person before becoming committed. Don't be impatient. 'Eat when it's time to eat. And move along when it's time to move along ----------------------------------- "Why a revolver?" he asked. "It helped me to trust in people," the Englishman answered. ------------------------------------ Everyone has his or her own way of learning things," he said to himself. "His way isn't the same as mine, nor mine as his. But we're both in search of our destinies, and I respect him for that." ----------------------------------- "Why do they make things so complicated?" he asked the Englishman one night. The boy had noticed that the Englishman was irritable, and missed his books. "So that those who have the responsibility for understanding can understand," he said. "Imagine if everyone went around transforming lead into gold. Gold would lose its value. ------------------------------------- if a metal were heated for many years, it would free itself of all its individual properties, and what was left would be the Soul of the World. This Soul of the World allowed them to understand anything on the face of the earth, because it was the language with which all things communicated. --------------------------------------- "Once you get into the desert, there's no going back," said the camel driver. "And, when you can't go back, you have to worry only about the best way of moving forward. The rest is up to Allah, including the danger." --------------------------------------- There must be a language that doesn't depend on words. If one can learn to understand this language without words, one can learn to understand the world. This wasn't a strange place; it was a new one. whoever has money is never really alone the world's greatest lie is that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what's happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate.

Gandhi inspired a lot of people all over the world. The same Gandhi used to say that he got inspiration( prEraNa)) from Bhagavadgeeta, in which he was finding solutions to his problems. We studied that Shivaji got inspiration from the stories told by his mother. In my opinion, the taker should be 'inspirable'. Otherwise any numer of 'exploits' by the 'living heroes/villains' cannot change his mindset.

hey people here , do you think stories are REAL? No they are not. The story writer has a message in his mind and hence developes ,engineer, builds and delivers it in the form which could strike the reader. he is not inspiring you directly . he is making situations so that the reader could believe in the depth of hypothetical situations. hence i regard the stories as moral inputs and not inspiration. bharatham and ramayanam manaki nerpedi NEETHI. they never inspire you. chandamama ,balamitraa etc etc kathalu anni neethi ni nerputhayi gaani inspiration ni kaadu. well i never learnt telugu in school so i dont know what inspiration is in telugu. Inspiration isnt a thing to me learnt or taught from a story. I told you before and i stand by that. inspiration is an olympic torch. it can only be transfered from one person to another. Like the principle in sicence that says you can never create nor destroy energy but can only transform . Hope you understood my point Mr Zero. well to simplify your understanding , i would like to tell you that no person would say that RAMA inspired me, krishna inspired me, or some x in the story inspired me. I have come across the people who say, Sreekrishna devaraya inspired me, hitler inspired me, bhaghath sing inspired me , etc etc.but never heard..krishnudu inspired me . if you see the society in the western world, they too regard some people dead or alive as their inspiration. prashanthi, liking an idea or incident wouldnt inspire you. it can just help you think better. it wont inspire you. for you to be inspired, you should be attached to some emotional aspect of a character. Now dont tell me that fictional characters create emotion.

Let me narrate a story I read in my childhod days (perhaps in Chandamama) ''A king was too crazy after astrology. Fortunately he had a wise minister, who was successfully running the show. He was somehow controlling the king's idiosyncrasies by using his capability. During the period of absence of that minister, a knowledgeable astrologer happened to come to the court of the king. The king was very curious to know about his longevity. Immediately the astrologer made all the needed calculations. Unlike most of the present day astrologers, the astrologer lacked tact and he declared that the king would die within 6 months. This put the king in a gloomy mood to such an extent that he stopped going to the court and started worrying in his palace, forgetting even his food & sleep. When the minster came back from his leave, he was aghast to know that the king was fast inviting his death! All his pleading with the king was in vain. Then he requested the king 'Sir, Please come to the court day after tomorrow, at least for my sake.' The king agreed to that proposal very reluctantly. Meanwhile, the astrologer was called to be present in the court on that day without fail. Then, in the court, the minister asked the astrologer the following questions : 'Sir, How long am I going to live as per my horoscope?' The astrologer, after doing his usual calculations, said 'Sir, Minimum upto your 80th birth day.' Again, the minister asked the astrologer 'What about yourself?' Again, after making his usual calculations, the astrologer said 'Another 30 years'. Now, the minister took a hard decision and got the astrologer hanged. Consequently, the king survived for other 20 years or so.'' This is one wonderful story I like to tell many people. Definitely it had a positive impact on me. I feel that the extent of impact on the reader/person depends on a) His own 'samskaaras (vaasanas)' including his/her genes b) The way in which the topic has been narrated by the author (it can be positive, negative, logical, preposterous, attractive, captivating and so on) c) The company in which he/she grows/chooses/spends. This does not mean to say that biographies and autobiographies cannot affect the thinking of persons. They too have got a major role. Many notorious criminals like Charles Sobhraj too could inspire some like-minded people to make their biographies projecting them as role models!

Hi All, Good stories definitely do inspire me ....... The source/method/degree of inspiration varies from person to person..... I think statements like 'Stories can't inspire', 'A story wouldnt inspire anyone' doesnt apply to all. Thanks

Hello Maheswarji, Yes. I love to read biographies. You can never state that 'stories' can't give you inspiration. We can get inspiration from any thing, literally any thing in this world provided we must be attuned to it or must have that perspective to look at the things as such. But few stories are as such that we can really like an idea or an incident or a reaction might soothe us. Hope you understand what I mean. Today I bought one more in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. --- 101 more stories to open the heart and rekindle the spirit. Also 'Believe in the god who believes in you' by Robert Schuller. I don't know when I can complete reading them for I have so many things in my platter:) I wish I read one story a day :) -Prasanthi.

Regarding the topic hell/heaven Iwant to make it as only a joke because hell/heaven is within us.I dont want to boast that those who have done good deeds will go to heaven or those who have done wrong deeds will go to hell. Whatever path or deed we lay here it should be for the sake of our people (whoever it may be)who in turn take the right way and show right path to future ones. And I strongly believe positive traits can only make world peaceful and negative leads our future ones disaster.
