General Forum: Govt. and Politics | Foreign jaunts: The Union finance ministry is fuming flames on some of AP ministers and officials going countries without the consent of the Centre. Do foreign trips educate our ministers and officials? | |
| Without Consent ?
Since how long and who it was?

2) Barring a few cases, what is the education level of an average AP minister? He needs a 'dubaasee' for translation of the 'phoren' language!
3) The ill-gotten money may perhaps be useful to educate their children in these days of commercialised & glorified 'convents'. Themselves getting 'educated' in the 'state of the art' manner is unbelievable!
Posted by: SATYA RAMA PRASAD KALLURI At: 28, Jul 2005 3:00:07 AM IST The Union finance ministry has wrinkled its brow at the successive foreign jaunts undertaken by ministers and officials of the Andhra Pradesh. In the last couple of months, more than 40 IAS officials and ministers have gone on foreign jaunts in the name of study tours and to functions. Irrigation Principal Secretary C.V.S.K. Sarma, Finance Principal Secretary P Ramakanth Reddy and Chief Minister’s secretary Bhanu went onto Argentina, Chile and the US on study tours and discussions with the World Bank. Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah and secretary Rajasekhar went on a study trip to Japan. Tourism Minister Geetha Reddy went to Dubai for a tourism road show. Minister for Mines and Geology Sabita Indra Reddy went to Russia along with AP Mineral Development Corporation chairman Vaddepalli Narsing Rao and department officials to study beach sand mining projects there. The Union Finance Ministry pointed out that unnecessary foreign tours cause much financial burden to the exchequer. Do our ministers and officials get enriched with these study tours or are they mere pleasure trips with public funds? Comment.
