Clinet dependent & Independent changes -------------------------------------- Hi, A client is an independent Business entity in SAP Server. A full fledged, SAP system landscape consists of a DEVELOPMENT, QUALITY and PRODUCTION servers, where in, client mechanism will be maintained in all the servers. If we consider a DEVELOPMENT system, there will be different types of clients in it (like Sandbox,Customization,Test etc). The date which is maintained in these clients will not be accessible from any other client. The data which is local to the client is known as Client Independent. Where as, some data will be common to all the clients in the system like currency, company calender, measurement units etc. This is common to all the client and can be accessible from any client. Hence it is called as client-independent data which are nothing but objects. If you not clear, can contact me in TP any time. Am working as a SAP Basis consultant in WIPRO. Bye

Clinet dependent & Independent changes ------------------------------------------ Normally any company who have implemnted SAP would have a suitable system landscape Which means theay will have SAP Development client, Test Client, Live client, etc, etc. There are many other clients like sandbox/playclient, golden client, etc. If the changes you are making gets reflected in all other clients it is client Independetn change. If the change effects only the client where you are making the change it is client dependent change. Normally you will receive a message while doing client independent changes. Account assignment is the procedure set up in the background to post account receivables or accounts payables to various G/L accounts. I am not thourough in MM but it can be like the below : When you buy a product against a PO and MIGO ( Goods receipt ) the product against your PO. The invetory ( stock level )posting to a particular G/L has to be made reflecting material you have received. and also the you have to make the accounts payable posting to another G/L as you need to pay the vendor who supplied the material. The main transaction used to map these transactions is I think : OBYC when it comes to SD account assignment depends on condition technique. You need to have very good understang of condition technique in order to understand account assignment. Do I make sense????? Shekar? Ramesh Vemula SAP Supply chain consultant Bristol UK.
