General Forum: Current 'Affairs' | Do you agree with the argument that Newspapers, which publish obscene material, should be rated Adult as is done for films? | |
| Money and business is important for a publisher !
He can give more donation to parties !
He can offer good moral support for parties!
Publisher's designated team are responsible for relations !

Those who want to enjoy the 'kick' alone but are not bothered about the news, can directly choose such news papers very easily.
Coming to the names of these news papers, I remember one English news paper which
1) Lives on (and creates its own) gossips and scandals
2) Creates an impression among its readers as if it is the only news paper that penetrates into the nooks and corners of AP
and hence covers the maximum amount of 'Regional news'
3) Acts as if it alone cares much for the youngsters (of course, it does a lot of yeoman service for them by giving information on 'which morning show in which theatre' (for the last 40 years or so), 'likes & dislikes of Bollywood stars', 'who wants to enjoy with whom' etc. authentically)
The other competitor news paper, which had shed its 'other language roots' long back (and whose 'English' is typically superior), is yet to gain momentum in AP!
(I have cross-checked and compared the 'regional content' of both the news papers and to be honest, both are covering the same practically to the same extent.)
My inference is that most of our Telugus are more interested in 'hearsay' than factual news and are carried away by 'views' more than the 'news'.
Anyway, there must be a check on the irresponsible news papers & magazines who are thriving on the 'childish' instinct of the reader.
Posted by: SATYA RAMA PRASAD KALLURI At: 21, Aug 2005 11:05:51 PM IST It's a legal precaution to protect the publisher and the dealers/retail sellers.
Once it was classified their responsibility ios over and it will be parents responsibility not to reach such news papers / magazines.
IT and satellite movies are providing best prone video material than magazines !!!!
Posted by: Mr. M Kumar N At: 20, Aug 2005 12:07:31 PM IST hm! This is a good sugession. But why should the Periodicals and Dailies resort to publish such cheep articles? Some time back a warning was printed under cigererett adds without banning smoking in public areas. Now the ban has been imposed. Atleast some good results. Like wise, why not ban publication of this abscene materials? I also suggest every add should be censored before it is aired.

Posted by: Mr. Vachaspathi V At: 19, Aug 2005 6:40:41 PM IST The Supreme Court issued notices to the Center, the Press Council of India, Times of India and The Hindustan Times, and two news agencies after examining a PIL seeking laying down of rules to ensure that minors are not exposed to obscene material.
In order to increase their circulation, newspapers are publishing obscene photographs and material in the guise of sex education or SMS jokes. The petition said that news items on beauty pageants and the like may not seem obscene prima facie, but the presentation or photographs accompanying them “may cater to the prurient interest of the public at large.” The PIL sought regulation to ensure that obscene material would not reach children. For that, one way would be to classify them into categories as Adults Only or Universal as done for films. Comment.
