General Forum: Current 'Affairs' | Be Aware of Construction Vehicles | |
| You are correct, after hit there will not be brakes as well as lights!
Tail lamps for vehicles is a standrad In India it varies from state to state. If we refer to Maharashtra state standards for the tail lights or lamps they are fixed at higher point. This can be confirmed with the BEST in Mumbai. Where as in AP the tail lamps are fixed at the rear bumper level. We use amber for turn signal indicator and the same for hazard idicator(bliking both the indicators simultaneously). Where as wetern countries use red color lamps to indicate turn signal as well as hazard indicator (blinking alternatively the right and the left indicator).
In the tail there will be
1. Parking lighr (which people never imagined)
2. Turn signal indicator
3. Brake lamps
4. Reverse indicator
Then there will be bacon lamp (some call revolving lamp). High ways are meant for speed of min 80 KMPH. For this reason any vehicle stopped on high way need to indicate hazard by a rflective traingle even incase of break down where lamps are not expected by such vehicles.
I remeber one driver giving right turn signal. I asked why you do like that when there is no right turn for you. He replied there is vehicle at my back so I am guiding to proceed him from my right side. Imagine the level of driving skills. Probably you have never heared of a a tipper truck. Let me explain. 90 % of tipper trucks do over speeding even in residential areas. They have to make more trips in the stipulated rime to get bonus. Coming to the point of their driving licenses and vehicle maintenance find your self how much they are acceptable.

Posted by: Mr. Pit and the Pendulum At: 4, Sep 2005 11:15:57 PM IST Early hours 0430 hrs (still dark)Qualis jeep coming from Hyderabad hit a parked tipper truck from it's rear. Tipper truck driver went for tea.
Just few days back a tripper truck hit a school. The tipper truck was found to be driving on the wrong side.
Highway users and vehicle drivers have they really come up to use them safely. It's really pity they don't know how and where to park a vehicle.
What are the preacautions to be taken to park a vehicle if parked on a highway??
1. Parking light
2. Hazard indication , why because no vehicle is supposed to park on a highway.
The hazard indication depends on size of vehicle like:
1. Light vehicles, saloon, jeeps, pick-up's
2. Medium vehicle, lorry, tipper, tractor, tankers, mini bus
3. Heavy vehicles tailor trucks, dump trucks, articulated goods vehicle, vacuum tankers
Tipper trucks are medium sized vehicle needs a bacon lamp on it's top.
Tipper trucks are every where now including residential areas, construction areas, school zones, side of railway tracks, gas stations, ghat sections, etc.
They have so much freedom:
1. No Speed brakers
2. No speed limits
3. Any where any time parking
4. No lane desipline
5. Dual carriage ways can be used as single carriage ways.
Construction companies do need to exercise to educate their drivers. Employ well trained & experienced safety officers. Provide training classes for the driver to prevent traffic hazrds
