General Forum: Current 'Affairs' | Ganguly Dropped! | |
| It was just some thing money matters related to over rate (s) !
Posted by: Mr. M Kumar N At: 17, Dec 2005 8:18:07 PM IST No surprise
Dropping Ganguly is not daft /absurd.
Ganguly is at the receiving end of politics now!!! Off course he was at the giving end for so long years,.
When u are playing for the country at the highest level.. No sentiments.. No emotions.. Just performance.
We should learn from Auz board few things when stev wagh successive performance in 3 matches bad, then he dropped from team.
Look at Irtan Pathan.. Without Greg Chappel Irfan would be still bowling.. now he is an All-rounder.
If it’s a practical decision. Bye bye Sourav- U were once great..
We need strong openers now .
If it’s political move
the selectors should stop playing fav's...its no fun watching the game when the real game goes inside the board room ..all dirty politics .

Dear Sourav,
Ignore everything, forget the politics, forget how some members of Team India who are there in the team because of you have treated you, just quit the game. You don't deserve any of it, you have been India's most successful captain, you fought all the way in your years in exile and struck that memorable century at Lord's but selectors play a different ball game altogether. It's just not worth it Sourav, you deserve better.
You scored 40 and 39 in the two innings of the Delhi Test but more importantly you were instrumental in raising a match saving 121-run partnership with Laxman in the first innings and 81 runs with Yuvraj in the second. In all you were involved in a 201-run partnership in a match in which India scored 655 runs. There is indeed no justice in the world. You have done your job to the best of your ability, played with your heart and given the phrase "Team India" to a country which only understood individual brilliance above all else
The five "wise men" who were once called a bunch of jokers by none other than Mohinder Amarnath years ago still holds true which is a petty because everyone thought Team India had ushered in a new era where respect for each player whether he is captain of India or a Ranji player is the same but sadly it seems that can never happen. There is talk of including you for the Pakistan tour with the establishment eager to see you fail. The fighter that you are we all know you will take the bait and come out on top against Shoaib & Co. but you are above Board politics, this is your moment you can dictate terms, slap the selectors on the face and refuse to tour, it will serve them right
Dropping you has gone against every principle - you were part of the winning combination in the Delhi Test, you played your part in India's victory and you did not flinch when the ball was handed to you but there are clearly different rules for different players in Team India. The selectors this time have clearly gone against the tide, the whole country is behind you and your studied silence is a befitting reply. This team and this country does not deserve a self made captain like you
The jokers forget this is not just a game where you come out to have fun and go back home. When on the field a player is always under the gun, every catch dropped, every missed run is counted against him and god forbid if he goes wicketless or fails to score but then what do the selectors care - they are more concerned with power politics and keeping their jobs. A day in the life of Sourav Ganguly is indeed long, lonely and unpredictable
Forget the home wins, under your captaincy India began to win games abroad for the first time ever. No one can take away your record as a player and captain. And the present captain, well what can one say? He struggled to find a place in the ODI team in his best days but you found a slot for him but now he is "happy" you are out and says "these things happen" and they call him a nice guy, some justice this!
India has started out with a new 'official' captain and a new coach and the that too because you backed Chappell when he was being interviewed by the Board and Dravid managed to outmanoeuvre you in a coup orchestrated along with the five wise men. Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Gambhir et all have all come up the ranks and nurtured by you. Sehwag as an opening batsman was your idea, Dhoni as No.3 was your idea and you gave Pathan a break in the big league. Whatever happened to the 'new' Team India!
Indians are not known to treat their heroes with respect but at the same time they go overboard even though one of them only aims for individual glory in the garb of team effort. A player in India has to be a diplomat first and cricketer later if he wants to get into the team and prolong his stay but you never gave a damn and that is the prime reason why you are being singled out. You had once yourself said, "I must be the most hated captain of India", now you have been made the most controversial player, it's just not worth it, quit now and let it be a black mark against Dravid & Co.(
