Remember Greig Chappell not a Indian, he is just a coach and he is not supposed to interven in the selection of Indian cricket team.

You are absolutely wrong! Steve Waugh's last series was not a Win. It was a levelled series (Almost a Loss against incidentally Ganguly's Indian team which again happened to be the only team in the last decade until recently to win a series against Australia and Level a series on Australia. Ganguly also happens to be the ONLY CAPTAIN IN THE WORLD TO DEFEAT STEVE WAUGH'S TEAM IN ITS PRIME TIME IF I AM NOT WRONG).
In this game captain also a player

Yes, but the main job of the captain is to motivate the team and get the things done properly. Tendulkar scored many runs when he was the captain but what was the use? India kept losing!
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY PAST? YESTERDAY ????

As a player he failed, if u takes any captain as an example they giving good performance and saved their teams.
I can’t name them one by one few are Inzy, vagh, lara etc..
Stev wagh is best example for ur 2nd one
what he did was past what he(doing ) performing now is important

Bradman was not out of form when he retired. Hadlee retired because he was too old and Botham had his own domestic reasons in quitting. EXCEPT MILKE BREARLY, THERE HAS BEEN NO SINGLE PLAYER/CAPTAIN IN THE HISTORY FO CRICKET WHO VOLUNTARILY DROPPED HIMSELF TO GIVE A CHANCE TO A BUDDING PLYAER ..
Ironically,
It was Ganguly, who gave up his opening slot to Tendulkar when Tendulkar openly cried about being shifted to the middle order.
It was Ganguly who underbowled himself to accommodate an additional medium pacer.
and It was again Ganguly who made Dravid the Batting Captain and Kumble the Bowling Captain, there by cutting down his own authority over the juniors, so that the team got the best.
