How to create a Boot Floppy?
Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs-->Startup Disk
How many devices are having in our computer system?
We have 3 ways to find the devices in our computer system.
Right Click On MyComputer-->Properties-->Device Manager
win+Pause-->Device Manager
Start-->Settings-->Control PanelSystem-->Device Manager
Note: In Device manager the yellow marked devices were ment for improperly configured devices.
Beep Codes indication of the System
One short beep -- System is OK
Continuous beeps -- The problem will be on motherboard or power supply
One long & 2 short beeps -- VGA Card problem
3 long beeps -- Keyboard error

FILE TYPES: The MS-DOS programming tools can create and process many different file types. The following extensions are used by convention for these files.

.ASM Assembly-language source file

.CRF Cross-reference information file produced by the assembler for processing by CREF.EXE
.DEF Module definition file describing a program's segment behavior(ms OS/2 and Microsoft Windows programs only; not relevant to normal MS-DOS applications)
.EXE MS-DOS executable load module that requires relocation at runtime.
.H 'C' header file containing 'C' source code for constants, macros and functions, merged into another C program with the #include directive.
.INC INclude file for assembly language programs, typically containing cacros and/or equates for system wide values such as error codes.
.LIB Object-module library file madeup of one or more .OBJ files; indexed and manipulated by LIB.EXE
.LST program listing, produced by the assembler, that includes memory locations, machine code, the original program text, and error messages.
.MAP listing of symbols and their locations with in a load module; produced by the linker
.OBJ Relocatable-Object-Code file produced by an assembler or Compiler.
.REF Cross-reference listing produced by an assembler or compiler information in a .CRF file.
Computer Terminology
Domain name hoarding: A huge amount of domain name registration is called "Domain name hoarding".
Firm-ware: Combination of hardware and software is called as "Firm-ware".
Geek: More enthusiastic about computers or experts in computers are called as "Geek".
Etailing: Sell the goods from the internet is called "Etailing".
Ergonomics: The study between the human health and the computer components is called as "Ergonomics study".
BAY: The place reserved for FDD, HDD, CD is called "BAY".
Chasis: Rest of the place in the case or cabin is called as "Chasis".
Bench-mark: It is a software. It finds the data transforing rate, capacities of other devices is called "Bench-mark".

Factory Settings: The settings which were come along with the software is called as "Factory Settings".
CMOS: The settings of the BIOS will be stored in CMOS betary. CMOS is the EEPROM.
EEPROM: Electrically Eerrasable Programable Read Only Memory.
RDRAM: Rambus Dynamic Ramdom Access Memory.
AVI: Audio Visually Interleave .
KBps: Killo Bits per second.
BAUD: How many bits per second.
Bit: Binary digit .
ASIC: Application Specific Integrated Circuit .
EPA: Enveronmental Protection Agency.
CISC: Complex Instruction Set Computer .
RISC: Risk Instruction Set Computer.
IDE: Integrated Device Electronics. (IDE is a device and technology)
SCSI: Small Computer System Interface.
Melt-down = Network crash .
SSL: Secure Socket Layer.
It is a encrypting method which is used by netscape navigator.
TWAIN: Technology Without A Intresting Name.
It is a scanner software name. It is a interface between computer and scanner.
Wait-Stage: CPU < RAM. In this case RAM is more faster than CPU in the data transforing .
Zero-Stage: CPU data transfor rate is equal to RAM data transfor rate.
Web-ring: In one site all other web sites links(all are belonging to same purpose) is called "Web-ring".
Warez: Getting the authorized software freely in the internet is called as "Warez".
Xenix: It is the flavour of UNIX, developed by Microsoft company. Only for individual PC's.
X-Modem: It is haaving protocol, it sends the data in the form of blocks and automatically detects the errors. Errors occurs because of extra power, magnatic, etc.,
Y-Modem: Features of X-Modem + the size of the blocks has been increased.
Z-Modem: X,Y-Modem features + rapped data transformation.
Scroll through History
Ans: If your mouse has the scroll wheel, then simply press the [shift] button and scroll up or down to go forward or backward in the browser history.
Zoom in/out quickly
Ans: To increase the font size on a web site using the scroll your mouse down while pressing the [ctrl] button. scroll up to reduce the font size.
Retrieving lost password for content advisor
Ans: Control the web sites that users surf using your PC via content advisor in IE. Specify a password. Forget the password and you may not be able to visit certain web site at all. There is a work around through. Go to Start-->Run, and type 'regedit' to bring up the registry editor. Navigate to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\CURRENT VERSION\POLICIES\RATINGS. Delete the key entry in the right pane and close the registry editor. Now, start Internet Explorer, go to Tools-->Internet Options-->Content-->Content Advisor and click 'disable Ratings'. Do not enter any password when asked to do so and click OK. That's it! All Content advisor settings eliminated.
Disable Windows Messenger
Windows messenger automatically loadsup when you start your XP computer. It also starts up at certain other events. To prevent it from loading at startup, or at any other event, do the following:
Go to Start->Run. Type in "GEPEDIT.MSC".
In the window that comes up, navigate to Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Windows Messengers. Here, you will see 'Donot allow windows messenger to be run' and 'Don't automatically start windows messenger initially'. Go to each of them and enable them. Close the group policy window, and you're done.
To prevent automatic disconnection from the internet
In the "Control Panel ", goto "Printers & other hardwaare ". Click on "Phone and modem options ". On the "dialing rules "tab, click "Edit ". Here you will find an option for disabling call waiting. Enable it by typing 119.
If it does not solve your problem then before hanging up, click on "Properties-->Options-->Idle time ". Change this option to "never". as a lost resort, you could try the follwoing:
Select "Modem Properties " in the "Control Panel ". Click on "Advanced " and type in the extra setting key ATS10=250.
To delete all the files, which are in the recyclebin , When we switch on the PC(Personal Computer). For this in autoexe.bat file we write the following
CD\Recycled
echo y\Del *.*
CD
After writing the above code save the autoexe.bat file and restart the system. This time onwards all the files reside in the recycle bin are deleted every time,when we restart the system.
To Change the color of the BSD (Blue Screen Death) window
Open system.ini file in the notepad,which is reside in the c:\windows. After opening the system.ini file, search for the phrase [386Enh]. If it is found, move to the next line of the file, and type MessageTextColor=X MessageBackColor=Xs. At the place of the X give some value to change the color of the window. Colors details as follows:
Black=0 Blue=1 Green=2 Cyan=3 Red=4 Magenta=5
