Attn: Mr SpArrow & Others. --------------------------------- Bhattiprolu is a small historical village in Repalle Taluk of Guntur Dt. It has a bus terminus and railway station and it is on the way to Repalle from Tenali Jn. Vikramarka ruled this area for sometime and got the 'kanakapu simhaasanam' from this village only and not at all from Ujjain as claimed by few in northern part of India. The place is called Vikramaarkunidibbha (also called Lanza Dibbha). Even today after heavy down pour of rains, sometimes few gold coins come out of the dibbha. This village is mostly dominated by the rich vysya community and poor padmashali community. In this village there is a street named Bitra Vaari Veedhi/bazaar. also called Bodduraayi Veedhi/bazaar. The incident is 180 years old. In this street a lady by name Dandi Parvathi was living with her husband. Her husband was a soldier. He died in the war and the death news reached the village after some days. Some boys in their teens in this Bitra vaari street prepared a huge fire(chithi)and called out Dandi Parvathi to come out and jump into the chithi but Dandi Parvathi refused to do so. These men caught hold of her and thrown her into the chithi/fire just because her husband died in the war and she became a widow. Unable to bear the horrible fire-flames killing her, she raised a huge cry and cursed the four Bitra families that they will ruin and suffer all untold miseries for seven generations and later she was engulfed in the flames and died a cruel death. Her curse came true and all the four Bitra families alone were vanished and sufferred untold miseries for seven generations. After the death a Bodduraayi (a circular stone with a dent in the middle) arose by itself, to the entire wonder of the entire villagers and remained as it is. All the villagers took this into the account of a temple and started performing poojas etc on all fridays and all the most important days in the village. The fourth condemned Bitra generation collected donations from the villagers and constructed a seperate temple for Dandi Parvathi away from village border. However that temple place became centre of the village. While the Bodduraayi ramained in the same place in the street for all these (180)years receiving poojas etc.from the villsagers, recently one of the male members of the seventh generation Bitra family constructed the temple with rockstones procured from Pirangipuram, and covered the entire Bodduraayi and thus prevented from its getting abused by the children playing over the Bodduraayi, from sun and rain, from mud and dust, from cattle running over it etc. Many people in the village visit the stone and offer prayers and pray for certain 'varams'and when it is proved, they again visit the stone-temple and offer free prasadams etc on important days. Jai Dandi Parvathi. Jai Jai Dandi Parvathi.
