Yes. It is true. When we go to India, our children though they are not that fluent in telugu, they try to express in telugu and talk in telugu, whereas kids who are born and brought up in Andhra try to put false accent and try to pose as though they are not comfortable with telugu. It's not that parents do not know this. It is they who encourage their kids to show-off and try to be westernised. We also see young students who come to foreign countries for studies, easily fall prey to the fast western culture and they sometimes do not want to be in touch with their own kith and kin as they will be under watch. Here parents are to be blamed as they are having double standards and our telugu culture and tradition are thrown to dogs. Live-in relationships of girls and boys has become the order of the day and later on after finishing studies they go back and get married to another guy or girl traditionally. It is all pathetic. What we are inculcating in our children is false prestige, lies and not the reality of life. Language, culture, tradition and values are not respected by parents and how can we expect the next generation to be a true telugu guy or girl? But still there are handful of people who are trying to hold tight to our telugu culture and traditions but they are being mocked for their not growing up with the changing times.

The other day I read an article in Swati weekly that our young generation is steadily losing track of our telugu language due to changes in their lifestyle in this fast changing world. Their parents are also encouraging them to adopt western styles as they have to play their role in life in competition with other global cultures especially English or American languages. A negligible percentage of children today speak or use telugu as their language of expression. The writer has correctly expressed his worry that the day is not far away when our children will become strangers to their own language.
