CM Chandrababu to meet 14 Finance Commission in Tirupati
Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Thursday said the government would pitch for a huge special grant for the next five years before the 14 Finance Commission holding its meeting here on Friday.
He told media persons that the meeting was a good opportunity for A.P. to highlight its needs as it struggles for all round development and building of a new capital. “We have lofty ideas and big issues of revenue. We have a huge revenue gap. As this Commission will make recommendations that are valid between 2015 and 2020 we want to take up our financial problems with it”.
Sources said the government was looking for better apportionment of revenue and want the tax share from the Central pool to be increased from 32 per cent to 50 percent. The 13 Finance commission awarded the undivided Andhra Pradesh seven per cent of the amount earmarked for the States amounting to about Rs.27,000 crore over a five-year period. Now the residual state of Andhra Pradesh was expecting a much higher amount considering its poor financial situation.
