Think Twice about IT offers from South Korean companies
- Mr. Shobhan Kumar Ayyadevara

Hi, I am Shobhan. I was doing a very decent job in Chennai in a software company and having four years of experience. Suddenly one day a consultant approached me asking that, there is a requirement in a south korean company with my skill set. Initially I was not very much interested in the email. As days pass by and I have some problems in my company ( problems are mainly related to ego), I started thinking of changing job. Suddenly I remembered about the email from consultant, prepared my CV and forwarded to the consultant. I got job and Work permit papers within a month, and got my VISA stamped in the next month. Consultant promised me lot of things ( some of the promises are ---- that the company provides me independent house in korea, house is also walkable distance to the office and accommodation is very decent, and compnay will reimburse all the food expenditure etc... ) I went to Korea with lot of hopes on the job ( I did not been to korea just because I wanted to go out of India, but I setup some professional goals and objectives ). I landed in the Seoul airport, felt good. Consultant camedown to the airport and picked me up to the accommodation where I am supposed to stay. I cannot really express my feelings about the accommodation, accommodation is so bad, I immediately felt that I took a wrong step by choosing my career in korea. Consultant did not provided me good accommodation, accommodation is not near to the office ( one hour journey to the office ), company is not reimbursing all the food amount. Whatever the consultant told, nothing is happened there. Then I understood that consultant told all the wrong words to me. I can strongly say that, Korean Jobs are not really for the experienced people in India. If the guy is fresher and if he doesn't get any job in India, he can choose Korean Jobs. And finally I decided to come back after working there for three months. Advantages of doing job in Korea: 1) Lot of koreans are good people, ( chances of working with junk people are less, some koreans doesn't like other country people to come to korea and work ) 2) They are very hard workers Disadvantages of working in korea: 1)Some koreans doesn't like other country people 2) Main problem is communication, they doesn't know english, we doesn't know korean. There is a big communication gap. 3) Food problem. Only Non Vegetarians can survive. 4) Staying with families is hardly possible in korea ( we don't get that much money there to support family )
