This is a small and a little effort to bring to the notice of all a kind of culture shock I experienced….
Today, there are hardly any such movies that could be seen without any hesitation with family and elders. When I see them I just wonder where is the so-called THE RICH INDIAN TRADITION and ITS VALUES is heading its way. I have, a year and half ago, been to the UK-England. My first and major shock was the culture here, when I say culture I mean the way generation today here in this country is like. The half nude clothing, smoking and drinking not baring in mind how too little has their clothing gone or to what extent they lost control over their own selves. Friday – the very morning reminds not of the following weekend but the odd and awkward dressings that I am going to see that evening. Their day starts with drinking and ends with drinking in the weekend….be it a boy or a girl….they end up sleeping with anyone….any stranger who comes their way…which they call as enjoying life….is it really so?
This is not just a case with the native British but also those Indian children who are born and brought-up here in countries like this. I don’t want to blame their parents, coz after a certain age children are no more in their hands….no matter what, coz it’s the liberty that’s given to its citizens by the government itself…..no parents have got any rights to scold or for that matter be a little firm with their children…they should be given freedom to do whatever they like…..does it mean that parents should keep just quiet even if children are getting drowned deep into such habits and mean culture from where its close to impossible to get back?
Hardly into teens, when I see the kids here roaming about with their opposite sex kissing and romancing publicly not being bothered about who is watching them. In a state like this, education is being the least important one to many. I am not against friendship with your opposite sex, but what annoys me the most is having a physical relation and branding it as friendship, to be on the safer side...please don't...its a request.
Today I was reading a leading telugu daily on the internet and happened to read a column where a young girl whose hardly 20 years old was very openly discussing that she had around a 100 times got physically close to a guy of her age and and now that her parents are searching for a suitable boy for marriage shez afraid of being caught by dreadful diseases and whether her future husband would by any chance come to know of her pre-marital affairs.
when I read this I was shocked on understanding that the young lady is worried about her health and not guilty of her behavoiur in such a tender age. Does it mean that as long as its not a threat to health, our youth are not worried about constantly commiting such mistakes keeping parents blind and unaware of what they are doing behind the scenes. Is this culture...or is this the very meaning of being social and broadminded or modern or hep or liberal or any so called nonsense? Give it a thought.
I personally feel that such an ill culture…or so called modern society is all the way influencing all those innocent minds who see it a way of liberty. Be it in India or in countries abroad when I see the children of Indian families left lost and confused in a dirty culture like this, it just makes me think where are we ending up! I understand that its very difficult to make our younger generations be a perfect Indian when they are being brought up in a foreign culture, but nothing is impossible…Lets join hands and strongly determine to teach our children the values of our RICH CULTURE and the importance of having a good character and make them realise that they are Indians after all…be it whatever.
I sincerely apologise if knowing or unknowingly I have written anything wrong….I wish everyone would understand and try to extract the essence in what I tried expressing…..hopefully.
