Parents of NRIs
- Mr. Ram Lavu
  Page: 1 of 1
Once we go abroad as an NRI, the first thing that happens is that most of us are leaving their parents back home. With the norm of 2/ 3 children, most of the NRI parents have all, or most of their children abroad. They are happy that their children are doing well, but at the same time they miss their children at an age that they need them most. Only thing we can do is to make their burden little less by giving them the feeling of closeness by getting them to interact with other parents in similar situation, and to get them engaged in some activity. Most popular are the Parents associations in different towns that do the same. I think a similar approach can take place in major cities abroad, where the NRIs reside. When the parents visit their children, they can interact with other parents in that city. In the city of Edison, NJ we have a similar association, and we have more than 50 NRI parents that are actively in touch with each other. I request that other members send out information on the activities conducted to take care of parents in India or abroad.
