Dear Friends,
I think we and the generation before us are very lucky to be living in this period to enjoy all the technological advancements. I think we can appreciate all these luxuries more than the next generation, because we know how life was before these luxuries became a part of our daily lives and hence value them more, I guess.
But some of these comforts and gadgets have made life too predictable and taken away certain excitements in our life. For example, these excitements are no more a part of our life...
1) The excitement of guessing who the caller might be when the phone rings..thanks to the caller id.
2) The excitement of waiting for the Post Man to some hoping he will get a letter from your LOVED ONE ..thanks to the e-mail ..people hardly write letters using a pen any more.
3) The excitement I experienced as a kid where we would all finish homeworks, mom would finish with all her homework and eagerly wait for CHITRAHAAR and CHITRALAHARI to see ANY DAMN song the DhoorDarshan played and really ENJOY THE ONE LATEST SONG they used to broadcast. Now ? Limitless channels,songs on demand,dvds...and what not!
By the way is anyone watching Chitrahaar any more?
4) The excitement of knowing the gender of child when you are pregnant which was not possible until after the child is born..MOst of the people desperately praying for boy (VAMSODHARAKUDU) and some minor percentage of people
praying they have a girl baby...!
5) The excitement of knowing you got pregnant(would make you giddy with pleasure). Now most of us calculate our Ovulation time and know the BEST TIME to DO IT so we get Pregnant and KNOW which DAY to TEST to see, if one got Pregnant.....All this somehow made the entire process of PREGNANCY a scientific Game.
...and many more...!!
