Articles: My Thoughts | Compliment Your Wife - Mrs. jo Jyothy
| |
Guys, Can you honestly recall the last time you complimented you wife? I will be happy if at least one tenth of you said ,”why, it was yesterday I complimented my wife for her beautiful smile or her pretty dress”!
I used to think it was just my hubby who was terribly poor in the subject -“compliment your wife” but when I opened this subject of discussion with my married friends , I was surprised to see almost all of them complaining the same thing.
I really wonder why most Indian men have a tough time complimenting their wives. Few men do shower their new bride with compliments in first few months of their married life. But in most cases, First Wedding Anniversary somehow magically erases their ability to show their appreciation verbally to their better halves.
Its not that they don’t know how to compliment. They have no problem saying “Thanks. I appreciate your help “ to their amercian colleagues atleast fifty times a day at work place. But once they are back to home enjoying delicious tea with hot hot pakodas the darling wife has prepared, all they can do is sip tea and flip on the TV without even throwing an appreciative glance at the poor thing who made them !
It is only when the lady asks ,”Did pakodas turn out good dear? Is the tea nice?”, that the average hubby replies “ya ..nice. make another variety tomorrow”.
SIGH!!!
Now,why do (most) Indian hubbies take their precious wives for granted?
Why don’t they appreciate the energy and love their wife puts into running the family ? I ask the same questions to my hubby and his reply most of the time is either a sheepish smile or a reverse question “Do you want me to do Filmi Drama daily? These things are to be understood. Of course I appreciate what you do!”.
My argument is why should complimenting your wife openly be a “Filmy drama” ? Is it wrong to expect few positive remarks from a husband? It only helps boost my confidence to hear my hubby say that I look amazing in the blue chudidaar or that I do a superb job of keeping home so neat even after a tiring 8-5 job or that he loves the delicious chicken curry I make..
Do you agree with me?
