Articles: My Thoughts | A prayer answered - Mrs. Puja Srik
| |
I read this story several years ago in Hindu daily. I remember it on most occasions and wanted to share with u all.
A construction worker who works hard from dawn to dusk, goes to the church every morning before he gets to work, stands quietly in front of god for a minute, says 'hi god this is Joe' and leaves. This happened for several years when one day he met with an accident and had to be admitted in the hospital. Since he had nobody to call his own, he spent days alone in his bed while he stayed in the hospital. Finally, when he was being discharged, the nurse asked him with a smile, 'where is ur friend that comes everyday'? Surprised at this, Joe asks for clarification. The nurse is confused but tells him, 'everyday at the start of the visitors' time a gentleman comes stands quietly for a minute at the foot of ur bed and says 'hi Joe, this is God' and leaves.'
I read this when i was in high school and this story stayed in my mind ever since. It is so true that u get your answer from God when u most need it and not when u want it. One time, I was reading somewhere that whenever you are in need of a solution, just pick any book that is closest to you and open some page. You will get the answer you are looking for. Once when i was deeply hurt by someone but could not really share it with anyone, I prayed for a message from God. I looked for a book close by and there was a notebook. It was a book that i kept to note down any interesting sentences or quotations from any book that I read. As I opened a page, the first quote on it was, 'is my doom afterall the shade of His hand outstretched caressingly!' I had casually written it down long ago and never expected it to provide such relief and comfort that nothing else or noone else could have provided.
