Where are we heading to?

Today we are living in an electronic and technologically developed world of opportunities. Lot of inventions, scientific researches and great brains worked towards making man’s life more and more comfortable and in one way luxurious too. If we reel back to some decades ago, we know back in India how the situation was. People used to travel days together to meet their kith and kin and at times I know people used to travel on foot minimum 10 kms to reach the destinations as there were no proper roads laid or no direct transport. I used to hear that people starting on a pilgrimage used to carry food and walk for weeks together. It was the single minded determination and patience and determination which used to give them that will power to take up any project and do it with full conviction. Similarly, there was a great bondage amongst people whether it is your neighbours, relatives or friends and for that matter any person with whom one reacts. People used to whole heartedly greet each other and there will be mutual bondage and concern in real sense for each other. Personally I feel though we have developed so much and today you can reach anyone anytime without much effort. But that sense of belongingness and concern for each other is missing. We have mobiles, e-mails and internet to communicate with each other. But people have become so busy and materialistic that they are forgetting the basis and the real worth of human life. f we question ourselves in this fast running race to earn money “are we really happy and content from within”? If anyone can answer me “Yes 100%” I will definitely think that it is not a fact. We can show the world that we have millions of dollars in the banks or we have achieved high growth in some business. But we can not assure our self of the real satisfaction or happiness for which we should strive for really. In olden days I used to see my mom waiting for letters from her family and it used to be a great pleasure to read those post cards wherein things which will fit in in two A4 size papers used to be written and the happiness and joy one gets in reading them is really something which we lack these electronic days. Something hand written with so much love and affection has immense value and it touches your heart. Today we have become so much entangled in our materialistic pursuits that we are really losing the essence of life. No one has time for another. He will calculate in terms of money. What do I get if I spend this much time in writing a letter to him or I can just give some excuse later on. If both the parties think this way, result is both are drifting from each other permanently. Time is money for many. Children are also brought up on those lines naturally. In certain cases children are becoming so much egoistic and stubborn and they don’t care elders and they have high nose as parents are rich and they compare and try to slowly drift from their own people at times. It is not their mistake. It is elders who don’t inculcate values in them and who wont teach them what is real love and what is life exactly. Ultimately we are seeing children when they grow young have none to confide when the crisis situation comes. So we are depriving them that opportunity if we teach them differences.
