Ten killed as lorry rams into auto Anantapur, Jan 1 (INN): At least ten people were killed and 2 others suffered grievous injuries in a major road accident which occurred at Mamillapalli village, Puttaparthy mandal in Anantapur district. According to Inspector Madhubushan, the mishap took place when a speeding lorry proceeding towards Bangalore smashed into a seven-seater auto-rickshaw proceeding towards the Puttaparthy. The impact left seven of the occupants of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot while three more died while being shifted to a hospital. The two injured persons are presently undergoing treatment in Dharmavaram Government Hospital. They are stated to be in a critical condition.
Mr Madhusudhan further revealed that victims were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Koya Rama Krishna (35), Bavulamma (35) and her relative Bavulamma (32), Sona Bai (19), Chidambar Reddy (55), Thota Sukanya (35). One fatality of those who died on the spot was not yet identified. The other three, Somashekar (21), Harijana Lalithamma (25) and Lalithamma (25) succumbed to their injuries while being shifted to hospital. A case has been registered against the lorry driver Under Section 304 (A) IPC and further investigations are on.
