Students throng Indrakeeladri to seek divine blessings Vijayawada, Feb 27 (INN): Lakhs of students appearing for public examinations in March and April thronged the famous temple at Indrakeeladri, seeking blessings of Saraswathi, the goddess of learning, during a Saraswathi Yagam organized by Sri Durga Malleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam under Vijayee Bhava. The students made a beeline to the temple since early morning after taking a holy dip in the river Krishna and performed special pujas seeking blessings of the Goddess for their success in the examinations.
The authorities at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam stated that arrangements had already been made for students to have free darshan from 8 am to 5 pm. After the free darshan, the authorities made arrangements to give students a picture of the Goddess, a pen and prasadam.
The authorities said Saraswathi Yagam has been performed in the presence of Vedic pundits seeking success for students in the academic and national level competitive examinations. The students who wish to avail themselves of this opportunity will have to come in uniform or produce their identity cards.
Meanwhile, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal faced a piquant situation as the authorities did not allow him to have the darshan of Goddess since he did not possess a VIP ticket. The MP had come to the temple in the morning hours to have the darshan of Goddess Saraswathi without taking VIP darshan ticket. According to reports, Mr Rajagopal left the place in a huff after the officials did not relent, without a darshan of the Goddess.
