ATA to publicize the glory of Kondaveedu Fort Chicago: American Telugu Association (ATA) has decided to publicize the glory of Kondaveedu Fort in Guntur District in an effort to bring the historical achievements of the Reddy rulers and their rich cultural contribution to the people of Andhra Pradesh in the medieval age.
Kalli Siva Reddy, Convener, Kondaveedu Fort Development Committee, Guntur, as part of publicizing the 14th century impregnable and glorious fortress of Kondaveedu has come to Chicago. The historical fort was totally neglected but with the efforts made by Mr. Siva Reddy it has come to the lime light.
Greater Chicago Telugu Community and leaders such as American Telugu Association (ATA) founding member Hanmanth Reddy, Treasurer Satyanayana R. Kandimalla, Trustee Narendar R. Chemarla, Membership Community Chair Satyanarayana R. Kondapalli and Telugu Association of Greater Chicago (TAGC) President Sunder Dittakavi, President Elect Kalyan R. Anandula, Past President Amar Nettam and other Telugu prominent leaders Mr. Ram Ade, Dr. Ravindar Reddy, Mr. Sudhakar Bijjam attended a program to felicitate Mr. Siva Reddy during the weekend.
Mr. Siva Reddy's efforts to review the past glory of the fort by taking the issue right from year 2004 to the notice of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, public service associations and people's representatives. He made a documentary film on the development activities taken up by Government of Andhra Pradesh with the initiative of the ex-minister for endowment Gade Venkata Reddy, involvement of International Society for Krishna Consciousnesses (ISKON) to make Kondaveedu a spiritual and historical tourist center, a destiny of tourists, paradise of nature lovers, showing the beauties of Kondaveedu fort and its surroundings.
Chicago Telugu community leaders appreciated Siva Reddy's efforts and promised him to extend their support in publicising the fort. They have decided to encourage the members of ATA and TAGC to to visit Kondaveedu while they are in India.
