Four die as lorry smashed into car, topples Visakhapatnam, May 16 (INN): At least four persons were killed on the spot, while another sustained minor injuries when a speeding lorry rammed into a car coming from the opposite direction and toppled over on National Highway Number 5, near Bayyaram village, Kasimkota mandal in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
According to Kasimkota Inspector Papa Rao, the victims have been identified as Bandaru Appa Rao (50), his wife Bandaru Lakshmi (45), car driver Harinath (35) and one man Sunil (30) who was travelling in the lorry.
Mr Rao revealed that the driver of the speeding lorry lost control over his vehicle at a high speed. The lorry rammed into the oncoming car and toppled over.
The mishap left four persons dead on the spot, three occupants of the car and one in the lorry. Another person travelling in the lorry suffered minor injuries.
Police reached the spot on getting information and shifted the victims to a government hospital for autopsies. A case has been registered under Section 304 (A) IPC. A manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding lorry driver.
