NIT student drowns in Laknavaram lake Warangal: An NIT Warangal student, A Rajasekhar, drowned in Laknavaram after going for picnic to the lake on Friday evening. A resident of Dilsukhnagar in Hyderabad, Rajasekhar was studying BTech (biotechnology) IIIrd year.
Sekhar, along with his friends, was playing cricket at the lake in Govindaraopet mandal when the ball fell in the water.
Soon he got into the water to retrieve the ball even while his friends urged him not to take the daring step. Searching for the ball, he drowned.
Hearing to the cries of Sekhar's friends, security guards got into the water and fished the body out after nearly four hours of search. The body was fished out around 6 p.m.
'Sekhar entered into the water saying that he would get the ball as he had hit it. We told him not to but he did not hear to us,' said Vijay, with tears in his eyes.
NIT student affairs dean Prof Radhakrishnamacharya said they informed Sekhar's parents about the death.
The body was shifted to Mulug hospital for postmortem. On knowing about the incident, hostel warden Omkar and some NIT students rushed to Mulug.
