Foundation Stone for Muktyala Lift Irrigation Saturday, Feb 16, 2019: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone of Muktyala Lift Irrigation Scheme through a video link from Praja Vedika. He said that the irrigation project will be completed in 12 months.
"With the completion of the project at a cost of Rs. 489.28 Cr, the long pending demand of the farmers of Krishna district upland areas will be fulfilled. He said the farmers of Jaggaiahpet, Vatsavai and Penuganchiprolu Mandals will benefit from this in a big way. The State government has taken up overall 69 irrigation projects at a cost of Rs. 70,000 Cr, out of which 19 projects have been inaugurated and 24 projects will be inaugurated soon. Vykuntapuram project, another barrage on Krishna river has been taken up at a cost of Rs. 2,109 Cr, through which the water can be stored at a stretch of 100 km for the use of Amaravati capital region," he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister also said that the State government has waived the loans of farmers despite the financial crisis in AP, adding that out of the 10 districts which top in micro-irrigation in the country, 6 are from Andhra Pradesh. 6 Lac farmers have switched to natural farming in the State.
