One of the great artists you are going to meet at ATA is a "Whistle Wizard"! Yes, he will mesmerize the audience with his whistle. It is none other than M. Venkata Ramana Reddy of Nalgonda, also known as Eelapata Ramana Ramana Reddy.
Ramana Reddy is a trained Carnatic vocalist. He is a postgraduate in music from Telugu University. He has bagged many awards in India and abroad and even released albums.
M. Ramana Reddy could reach out to tara sthayi and mandra in whistling, without faltering in this new technique. He says one can sing any song without any instrument. If you can control your breathing levels, you can sing any song with whistle, he says.
M. Ramana Reddy could reach out to Taara Sthaayi and Mandra in whistling. At a classical performance as reported by The Hindu, he began with Mayamalavagowla varnam Sarasangi that he whistled this in in two speeds. Vatapi Ganpathim Bhaje in Hamsadhwani that followed was a simple kirtana presentation. So was Endaro Mahanubhavulu the Pancharatna kirtana of Thyagaraja in Sriragam. Vidajaladura in Janaranjani another kirtana of Thyagaraja was presented with apt speed that it deserved, a little higher than usual.
