Schoolgirl helps to stop child marriage Ongole, November 29. A seventh class schoolgirl from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Sivaramapuram village in Prakasam district helped authorities to stop marriage of her classmate with a 22-year-old man in Vijayawada on Thursday.
Rajiv Vidya Mission Project Officer V.Srinivasa Rao said that the school girl passed the information through toll free 1098 in right time to stop the marriage scheduled to be held at Gunadala.
KGBV Talluru Special Officer V. Sujitha, and Childline India Foundation and HELP social activist B.V. Sagar got in touch with their counterparts in Krishna district and stopped just before the marriage.
Later the school girl was put back into school in the afternoon by District Girl Child Development Officer P. Saraswathi after taking an undertaking from the parents of the girl.
