KCR Congratulates Saina Nehwal for China Open Hyderabad, Nov 16 (INN): Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday congratulated Ace Shuttle Saina Nehwal for winning the China Open Super Singles.
In a message, the Chief Minister said that this is Saina's third title of the year as she had won the Australian Super Series in June, besides clinching the Syed Modi International Grand Prix Gold early in the year. He said Saina had overcome several challenges to reach to the top position and made entire Telangana proud. He said her victory would serve as an inspiration for all youth, especially the girls.
Saina is the first Indian to win a medal in Badminton at the Olympics. She achieved this feat by winning the Bronze medal at the London Olympics 2012 on 4 August 2012. She is the first Indian to win the World Junior Badminton Championships and was also the first Indian to win a Super Series tournament, by clinching the Indonesia Open on 21 June 2009.
