Expressway to link city to Rajiv Rahadari HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao instructed officials of the roads and buildings department to explore the feasibility of constructing an elevated expressway from Hyderabad to Rajiv Rahadari, a state highway.
The elevated way will be constructed from Hyderabad to Ramagundam on a par with national highways on a war-footing to reduce road accidents and loss of lives.
Reviewing the functioning of the R and B department with officials, the chief minister asked them to prepare a master plan on such elevated expressway flyovers on the lines of P V Narasimha Rao Expressway from the state captial to all state and national highways.
The chief Minister wanted them to immediately take up provision of service roads, removal of dangerous road bends and also creation of additional bypasses and flyovers on the Rajiv Rahadari.
He directed the officials to prepare a list of ongoing road works along with cost estimate with an action plan to complete them in a time bound programme.
Chandrasekhar Rao also asked the officials to prepare a road map to convert the 20,000-km-long panchayat raj roads to district headquarters into four-lane roads and two-lane roads to mandal headquarters.
According to officials, 1,672 km roads have to be four-laned and 7,287 km roads two-laned. The CM wanted the officials to examine the feasibility of laying another ring of ORR within a radius of 60 km to 100 km of Hyderabad and to promote satellite townships and mass transportation systems for Nalgonda and Mahbubangar districts.
