Opposition parties stalling irrigation projects: TRS Hyderabad, Feb 3 (INN): TRS senior leader and Telangana Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Niranjan Reddy has accused the opposition parties of causing obstructions in the construction of irrigation projects in the State.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Niranjan Reddy said that the TRS Government was seriously pursuing its goal of providing irrigation facility to one crore acres of land. However, he said that the opposition parties were making repeated attempts to stall different projects. He said that the Congress party was playing a condemnable role with regard to irrigation sector.
The TRS leader said that there was no truth in the recent statement issued by Congress MLA Vamshichand Reddy on Kalwakurthy project. He said that project was initiated about 30 years ago and its coverage was reduced from 60,000 acre to 50,000 acres. Later, projects lifts were also reduced from 13 to just three. However, he said that the TRS Government has redesigned the project to increase its potential to irrigate 3.95 lakh acres land.
