SHRC moved over spread of disease in Vijayawada Hyderabad, Sept 3 (INN): An aggrieved father on Friday knocked the doors of the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), seeking action against the Vijayawada Health Department and Municipals Corporation. Submitting a petition on behalf of the T Raju, the father of a Nine-year-ole boy Sumanth, a resident of New Rajarajeshwari in Vijayawada Urban district, who died after being administered a dose of anti-malarial drug, High Court advocate P Sai Krishna urged the SHRC to order the State government to initiate preventive measures over spreading seasonal diseases in Vijayawada.
According to a survey report, the entire state is reeling under seasonal diseases and the virus is spreading like wildfire. The Health Department and Vijayawada Municipal Authorities have show lack of interest in this regard, resulting in the death toll reaching 25 in Vijayawada itself, pointed out Mr P Sai Krishna.
He further stated that government hospitals have lack of staff and facilities which have contributed to putting the lives of poor people at risk across the state. The agency areas of the Andhra Pradesh is under the seasonal diseases grip, tribal people hardly get the medicinal aid, owing to the apathy of the Vijayawadas Health Department officials, he further rued.
