Cop collapses while training for promotion Warangal, Sept 16 (INN): An armed reserve constable under training for the post of Reserved Sub-Inspector at Police Training School, Mamanuru, collapsed and died while running early on Thursday morning. According to sources, Nageswara Rao (52), collapsed while running as part of the early morning exercises. Immediately he was rushed to Mahatma Gandhi General Hospital. However, the doctors declared him brought dead. The doctors said the constable died due to cardiac arrest. The victim belonged to Khammam district.
According to Training School Principal Parimala, the candidates should undergo training, which was necessary for getting promotions in the department. However, she said the training was not hard and made simple considering the age of candidates. The candidates should complete a 2 km walk in 25 minutes, she said. However, considering the age of candidates, it has been reduced to 1.5 km. The 1.5 km walk should be completed in 15 minutes, she added.
Protesting against the incident, other constables who were also undergoing the training, boycotted their duties. They alleged that the training was very strenuous for aged candidates. This is the second such incident reported from the Center within a week. Police Welfare Association President Mohan Rao stated there was no point in giving strenuous training for candidates at this age. He urged the government to simplify the training for candidates considering their age and experience.
