12 killed in two road mishaps across state Visakhapatnam, Jan 11 (INN): At least ten persons were killed on the spot and 11 others injured when a van collided with a stationary lorry on National Highway No 5 near Namavaram in Payakaraopeta mandal in Visakhapatnam district in the wee hours of Tuesday. According to Tuni police, all the victims' bodies have been rushed to Government hospital in Tuni for postmortem. Among the 11 injured, the condition of some is stated to be critical.
Police said the victims belonged to Alamuru in Mandapeta mandal in East Godavari district. The mishap took place when the van, heading towards Mandapeta from Parawada in Visakhapatnam district rammed into the stationary lorry.
In another mishap, two persons were killed on the spot and six others sustained grievous injuries when the driver of a Tata Sumo lost control over his vehicle and rammed into a roadside tree at Kommaru Madugu in V Kota Mandal in Chittoor district on Tuesday. According to police, the bodies of victims were shifted to Government Hospital in Chittoor for postmortem. The identities of deceased are yet to be ascertained. The condition of injured is stated to be critical.
