Hirakud protestors demand more bogies Visakhapatnam, Jan 12 (INN): Many trains in East Coast Railway were running behind schedule as Yuva Vikas Parishat in Orissa staged `Rail Roko' agitation in the border district of Raigad demanding additional bogies for Visakhapatnam Hirakud Express from Sambalpur to Amritsar. According to information reaching here, the Parishat activists, raising slogans against the railway authoritiesm started their agitation by squatting on railway tracks in Raigad station since the wee hours of Wednesday, disrupting train services.
The agitators stated that they would continue their agitation until the railway officials come out with a proper announcement on adding more coaches to Hirakud Express. The officials said the huge rush was caused due to announcement of Sankranti holidays to schools and colleges and passengers are going to their native places.
Though railway officials stated that they have added one bogey, it did not meet the requirement due to the huge rush of commuters. Following their agitation, Tata 'Alleppy Bokaro Express, Howrah-Yashwantpur Express, Nizamuddin Express and Hirakud Express were running behind schedule.
