Registrations department incurred Rs.60 lakh loss Ongole, December 2. Andhra Pradesh Government ordered revenue department to stop all registrations in the Prakasam district due to this Registrations department incurred a revenue loss of Rs.60 lakh the last twodays. There are 18 sub-registrar offices in the district and all the offices stopped registrations temporarily.
During the last two days more than 700 land registrations have been stopped with government order. Government has right to stop the land registration Under Section 22 of Stamps and Registrations Act.
Land registrations in the state came to halt following the issue of GO 398, which was later relaxed by the government. The registration department officials did not get the relaxed GO copies till Tuesday. They are expecting that they will get GO copies by Wednesday.
Ongole district registrar V. Murali Krishna said, 'We are registering only authorised lay-outs, there is a need of RDO or Tahsildar's permission for the conversion of agriculture lands into house sites.' After receiving the GO copies and orders from higher officials, we will resume the land registrations.
