TANTEX celebrated Sankranthi grandly in Dallas Telugu Association of North Texas (TANTEX) held grand Sankaranthi Sambaraalu at Nimitz High School in Irving, Texas. The event displayed a culmination of cultural and modern activities under one roof. The event was coordinated by Venkat Danda, President of TANTEX Dr. Narasimha Reddy Urimindi and Cultural Chair for 2014 Sharada Singireddy.
Over 800 including 180 children participated in the event where Neeraja Padigela chair for decoration and reception ensured a complete festive look at the venue with Sankaranthi themes all around. Rangoli competitions were supervised by Sreelu Mandiga chair for Vanitha Vedika and prizes given away for top 3 contenders. The program kicked off with kids rendering American national anthem. As the programs progressed it was visual feast to watch traditional dances, Tollywood medleys, LMA kids singing performance, comedy skit 'Attarintiki Dari' that left audience split into laughter.
In memory of Akkineni Nageswara Rao, 'Nrutyakshari ' a tribute to ANR' was performed by 10 adult pairs that stood as one the highlights of the day. Adult singing performances by Suresh Pathaneni and his group stood as another highlight filling the air with musical magic.
Comedy and Mimicry artist Siva Reddy graced the occasion and took the onus of providing wholesome entertainment with his timely mimicry and special performance Ventriloquism for kids. He was honored with plaque and shawl at the event. Outgoing President Vijaymohan Kakarla speaking at the occasion thanked his 2014 team and assured his full support for the 2015 team.
Dr. Narasimha Reddy Urimindi President, TANTEX introduced his team by calling Subramanyam Jonnalagadda as President-Elect, Krishna Reddy Uppalapati as Vice-President, Mahesh Aditya Adibhatla as Secretary, Chinasatyam Veernapu as Join-Secretary, Krishnaveni Seelam as Treasurer and Venumadhav Pavuluri as Joint-Treasurer to the audience. He later invited his Executive committee members and the Board of Trustees on to the dais.
Dr. Narasimha Reddy outlining his vision for 2015 stressed upon increasing quality of programs, providing platform for local performers where possible, coordination between various organizations in town, helping through various means of personality development for youth.Outgoing committee members Raghu Chittimalla, Balki Chamkura, Subhashini Pentakota, Dr. C.R. Rao, and Murty Mulukutla were felicitated by president and other members.
Venkat Danda event coordinator thanked the audience, TANTEX sponsors, media partners and the school authorities. The event concluded with singing of Indian National Anthem, reverberating the air.
