Satish and his team won in TANA Elections Boston, USA: A two month long election campaign with a lot of politics among the Telugu NRIs in the United States came to an end on Saturday with the completion of vote counting for Telugu Association of North America (TANA).
Satish Vemana is declared as the winner for the post of Executive Vice President or President Elect with a majority of more than 5,000 votes. He will automatically become the President two years later.
For the first time in the United States, contesting candidates campaigned heavily as if it is an Assembly or Parliament elections in India.
While Satish got 8257 votes, the much more senior and a long time supporter of TANA, Mr. Ram Yalamanchili got 3137 votes.
For the post of Secretary, Satish's team member Madhu Tata got 7039 votes while Baktha Balla got 4235 votes. For the Treasurer's post Murali Vennam got 7187 votes where as Mr. Paturi got 4033 votes.
Ravi Potluri won as Joint Secretary with 7934 votes while opponent
Bullaiah Chowdary got 3293 votes.
The much awaited Regional vice presidential election for New York and New Jersey region was won by Laxmi Devineni. Vidyadhar Garapati lost the election in a tough fight.
Similarly Sivaram won Regional Vice President post for the North region and SK Vemuri won for the West.
