KCR for comprehensive plan for city's water needs Hyderabad, July 27 (INN): Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday directed the officials to make a comprehensive plan to meet the drinking water needs of twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The Chief Minister issued these directions while chairing a review meeting at his camp office. Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, CMO Principal Secretary Narsing Rao, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, HMWSSB Managing Director Jagadeeswar Rao and Chief Engineer Satyanarayana participated in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister asked the officials to plan construction of more reservoirs to meet the water needs. Besides drinking water, he said steps should be taken to ensure supply of water to industries and other commercial establishments. As against the requirement of 42.58 TMC, the presently supplies are of 32 TMC to cater to the needs of 1.42 crore people. He said the demand-supply gap would be met by augmenting supplies from Krishna and Godavari Rivers.
There are about nine lakh tap connections in the city and more connections would be given. The Chief Minister also enquired about the laying of pipelines, pump house and treatment.
