TPCC leaders meet CEC over deletion of voters Hyderabad, Sept 21 (INN): The leaders of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on Monday called on Chief Election Commissioner Naseem Zaidi complaining of delegation of lakhs of names from the voters list of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
Led by TPCC Chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, the Congress leaders sought action against Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal and GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar for deleting the names of settlers, who hailed from Seemandhra region, from the voters list.
Speaking to media persons later, Uttam Kumar Reddy said more than four lakh names have been removed the electoral rolls. He alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched to remove another 25 lakh voters from the electoral rolls. He said that the CEO and GHMC chief were doing to benefit the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi in next GHMC elections.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party had no objection to deletion of bogus voters. However, lakhs of genuine voters were being removed from the list by classifying them into 'door lock' cases. He said that the Chief Election Commissioner has been urged to appoint observers from outside the State to probe into the allegations.
